"Recruiting and Selecting Talent" Excerpt from Chapter 15: Define the Selection Process So what can you do to make sure that your interview process meets the standards you believe would best show off your organization as a great place to work? The following practices will provide a good basis for elevating your process into a competitive advantage.
Have a Positive Defined Approach for Every Candidate
There are three elements to the interview and selection process. They include:
1. Recruiting - The process of finding candidates for a job or function. 2. Selecting - The act of carefully choosing an individual or group of individuals from among a pool of possible candidates. 3. Hiring the candidates selected - The process of landing those you have selected by getting them to accept the offer of employment.
Defining what each of these processes do, who is responsible and what roles each person involved must play, is the first step of making sure you are putting your best foot forward. When candidates feel they are part of a well-oiled machine, they feel more valued and cared for than when things seem to be disorganized and last minute. Existing employees need to understand what role they play and how to support the process in a positive, appealing yet accurate manner.
